The first chapter of communication skill training talks about importance of listening. Let me tell you about a wrong practice when people communicate, instead of listening to what other person is saying, the second person may be focusing only on his lines next. You can give a better and apt reply only when you have listened to what the other person has expressed.
Second lesson in communication skill training is about body language. There are times when your words suggest something and your body language suggests something else. If you do not have the right body language, you may find it difficult to create the positive vibe you wanted to have. Make sure that your body language does not contradict what you are about to say. Too much negativity or too much aggression shouldn't be conveyed through your body language. Keeping an eye contact is highly recommended for proper communication. To make the other person believe in what you say you must establish an eye contact.
Third lesson in communication skill training would be about the language you use. Your language could be either neutral or subtly aggressive depending on the situation. You can decide on what language is most suited for the occasion. However, a friendly, positive and cordial language would be the best bet irrespective of the situation you are in. The other person can easily sense the language you may use; so, be conscious before you open your mouth.
Fourth lesson in communication skill training is about making your speech short but to the point. The times have changed and life is so fast these days, so, nobody has got the time and patience for beating around the bush. So, try to express your idea in only few words, especially if it is meant for official purpose; however, don't forget to accommodate all your points in this shorter version. Make a note of what you are going to say and the possible replies you may receive. This surely helps in controlling the direction of your discussion. No doubt, an effective communication is guaranteed with this method.
Communication skill training is not complete without mentioning the importance of grooming. You can make yourself approachable with this step. Tact, diplomacy and poise; these three qualities are very essential in an effective communication. At times, saying a firm 'No' in a rather polite way would solve most of the troubles, but not too many can effectively do this; communication skill training is the right tutor for this.
