Schools are ready to open with a
fresh new academic year. With this comes in homework which most kids find it to
be a mere headache. You can assist your child in reducing the work load and
thus making their homework stress free and delightful. By taking help from the
below given ideas, you can easily turn the worried face of your child to a
smiling one when they have homework.
Majority of children postpone
things when it is nothing but homework. It is of course another burden put on
to them according to their views apart from the regular studies. But, a neat
and clean timetable which is managed and organized well can help them take
things in a positive way and work accordingly.
What does a good schedule
include? Below are a few things which are to be included in a perfect
timetable:
Exact
time to wind-down.
Snack
time
Homework
Errands
Dinner
Some
time to spend with family
To adjust with the locomotion
from school to home a little effortless, give them time to prepare their mind
and body with some other things they love too. You can allow them to go out to
play, ride a bike or even do some craftwork or watch a television program. In
case of an early or later lunch, a complete and balanced snack in the evening
can also be a break through. For this you can choose anything which is
nutritious like a cheese sandwich, a fruit or even yoghurt which can help them
gain enough energy or stamina for the rest of the day.
When it comes to homework allot a
specific place for that. In the table, arrange supplies which are necessary
including pen, paper, eraser, sharpener, markers and calculator. You can even
assign them kitchen table for their homework so that you can be keen on what
they do and at the same time save your time also.
The assignments are to be looked
over and then rescheduled according to the time available and always be ready
to serve them when they are in need of you. A child gets relaxed automatically
when they understand that there is someone to help them during their stress.
Therefore, you can sit beside them with any of your work like pay bills,
reading magazines or paper or any other activities.
Put a certain limit to the
outside activities like band, scout or sports practise as this would result in
shortage of time for their homework. Share the worries faced by your child and
talk to teachers often in the absence of the child so that the authority of the
teacher is not questioned later on. You can also exchange views about your
child with the teacher and what can be done to make your child study.
Do not make them sit for hours to
study as they get bored very soon. Put breaks very often for younger children
and go for at least fifteen minutes break for the elder ones. Break is just for
relaxation or for them to move around a little or drink a little water.
Homework and stress are co-related and you can do your part in the best possible way by getting help from the above given tips to reduce stress for your child. Also, remember you were also a student once and what did you do to overcome homework stress? This can give you an answer very quickly to put in your own ideas to help your child!
